Holistic Health Physiotherapy combines evidence-based techniques with a whole-body approach to support wellness.

“As a Holistic Health Physiotherapist, I’m dedicated to helping you move better, feel stronger, and live well. My approach combines evidence-based physiotherapy with a focus on overall wellness, addressing not just symptoms but the underlying causes. Each treatment plan is individually tailored to restore movement, balance, and long-term wellbeing.”
Professional & Balanced

I’m Maria, a Chartered Physiotherapist with over 20 years of experience working in both the UK and abroad. I founded Holistic Health Physiotherapy to offer a personalised, evidence-based approach that supports the whole person — not just the injury.
My career began in the NHS, where I gained experience in orthopaedics, both trauma, elective and post-surgical rehabilitation before moving into outpatient and pelvic health services. I treated a vast range of soft tissue injuries, back, neck and pelvic pain alongside other joint issues and nerve related pain. My secondary role involved working on an inpatient gynaecology/breast surgery ward and running an outpatient clinic for post operative patients, and managing pre and postnatal issues. I then moved to the Middle East and spent 13 years working in busy hospital outpatient departments and building up services in clinic settings - treating patients, developing physiotherapy services and promoting pelvic health awareness.
These experiences have shaped my belief that effective treatment looks beyond symptoms to understand the whole body and the lifestyle behind it. I combine manual therapy, exercise prescription, education, and movement re-training to help restore function and confidence.
My aim is to provide care that feels supportive, empowering, and genuinely individualised. Whether you’re recovering from injury, managing long-term pain, or seeking help during pregnancy or postnatal recovery, I’ll work with you to create a plan that fits your needs and goals.
At Holistic Health Physiotherapy, my focus is on helping you move with confidence, restore balance, and feel your best — in body and mind.

I learnt acupuncture a few years after qualifying in order to add another tool to my bag and help those with very painful conditions and others with chronic pain. During my time I have also done several courses to qualify in dry needling and have found both to be useful tools to address a range of conditions.
Acupuncture and dry needling both use fine needles, but they differ in their origins and approach:
In short, acupuncture is rooted in traditional holistic theory, while dry needling is based on anatomy and modern pain science.

As part of my service, I offer home visits for clients who may find it difficult to attend the clinic. This service is ideal for individuals with reduced mobility, those recovering from surgery, or anyone at risk of falls. Providing treatment in the comfort of your own home allows for a more relaxed, practical approach, helping to assess your environment and tailor exercises to support safety, confidence, and independence.

Treatments address a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions to help restore movement, reduce pain, and improve overall function. Common problems include:

Pelvic health physiotherapy addresses conditions affecting the muscles, joints, and connective tissues of the pelvis in both men and women. This includes hip, sacral, coccyx, and symphysis pubis pain, as well as muscular and connective tissue problems that can influence the pelvic floor function, the bladder or the bowels. Treatment aims to restore balance, reduce pain, and improve function for overall pelvic wellbeing.

Complementary techniques can support your overall wellbeing and enhance physiotherapy outcomes. Treatments such as acupuncture, massage and therapies that enhance our physical and mental connection can help to reduce stress, release muscle tension and promote recovery by restoring balance throughout the body. These therapies can be integrated into your physiotherapy plan or used as standalone treatments for relaxation and wellness.

At my practice, I offer a range of physiotherapy treatments designed to support your recovery, improve movement, and promote overall wellbeing. Each treatment plan is tailored to your individual needs, combining evidence-based techniques with a holistic approach to health.
Your treatment may include a combination of:

Your Physiotherapy Journey
At Holistic Health Physiotherapy, every appointment is designed around you. From your first assessment to ongoing treatment, the aim is to understand your needs, support your progress, and help you achieve lasting results.
What to Expect at Your First Appointment
Your first physiotherapy appointment is all about understanding you — your health, your goals, and what’s been holding you back. It’s the starting point for creating a treatment plan that’s completely tailored to your needs.
1. A Friendly Chat
We’ll begin by talking through your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, and what you’d like to achieve. This helps build a clear picture of what’s going on and how it’s affecting your daily life.
2. Physical Assessment
Next, we’ll carry out a physical assessment. This may include looking at your posture, flexibility, movement, and strength to identify the underlying causes of your symptoms. Everything will be explained clearly as we go, so you’ll always know what to expect.
3. Personalised Plan
Once we’ve gathered all the information, we’ll discuss the findings together and create a treatment plan that fits your goals. This may include hands-on treatment, exercises, and advice to support your recovery.
4. Time for Questions
You’ll have plenty of time to ask questions and talk through anything you’re unsure about — this appointment is for you, and your comfort and understanding are always the priority.
What to Expect at Your Follow-Up Appointment
Your follow-up appointment is an important step in your recovery journey. It’s a chance to review your progress, make adjustments, and build on the work from your initial session.
1. Checking In
We’ll start by talking about how you’ve been since your last visit — what’s improved, what’s still challenging, and how you’re managing with your exercises or daily activities.
2. Reassessment
Your physiotherapist will recheck key areas such as movement, strength, or posture to see how things are changing. This helps guide any updates to your treatment plan.
3. Ongoing Treatment
Treatment will continue based on your needs and progress. This might include manual therapy, specific exercises, or advice to help you move and feel better between sessions.
4. Adjusting Your Plan
As you improve, your plan will evolve. We’ll review your goals together and adapt your programme to keep you moving forward safely and confidently.
5. Support and Guidance
You’ll have time to ask questions and discuss any concerns. Each session is about working together to support your recovery and help you feel your best.
How to Prepare for Your Physiotherapy Appointment
To help you feel comfortable and get the most from your session, here are a few simple tips:
1. What to Wear
Choose loose, comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily. It’s helpful if the area being treated is easy to access — for example, shorts for leg injuries or a vest top for shoulder or back issues.
2. What to Bring
If you have any medical reports, scan results, or referral letters, please bring them along. It can also be useful to bring a list of any current medications or previous treatments you’ve tried.
3. What to Expect
Your first session is a chance to talk about your symptoms, your goals, and how your condition affects your daily life. We’ll then look at your movement, posture, and strength to help identify what’s going on and plan the best way forward together.
4. Before You Arrive
Try to arrive a few minutes early, especially for your first visit. Take a moment to think about when your symptoms started, what makes them better or worse, and what you’d like to achieve from physiotherapy.
5. Working Together
Physiotherapy is very much a team approach. Your input is key — so feel free to ask questions, share your concerns, and take an active role in your recovery journey.
